I know about reddit and there's some good stuff there but it's mostly just aesthetics like this pic. I'm more interested in things like lowtechmagazine, considering practical things we can do today.
I'm also looking for communities for the social side of punk; where we can organize, collaborate and exchange ideas not just feelgood videos.
>It's fairly dead, but there's a solarpunk matrix channel at #solarpunks:pixie.town
>There are plenty of Solarpunk & Solarpunk adjacent blogs & newsletters out there!
Here are a couple I subscribe to:
It seems quite popular on the Gemini protocol too!
>If we're posting Solarpunk blogs & zines, I've got a few to add!
Is Gemini worth getting into?
Why is solarpunk popular on Gemini when it barely exists on the http web?
greetings from https://laguna.cafe
our board isn't strictly solarpunk but solarpunk discussion would be more than welcome
there's is the /wav/ board for aesthetics and the /tek/ board for technology
also /prx/ - praxis, if we get enough demand for it could make a separate /sol/ board just for solarpunk :D
also, if the admin here would like to form a webring thingy with laguna, that would be cool.

well idk if it's 'worth' it, it's growing in popularity but still very niche
there is a value in getting in early, especially considering the type of people into gemenin are all technically minded

Personally, I really like the format of a text-only internet with no ads.
The problem with Gemini is content discovery. Even when you find a really interesting article, the next post on that capsule might just be about the author's pets.
It seems like Gemini needs its own version of something like Reddit, despite all the problems & centralization that introduces.

There's nothing low-tech about photovoltaics, and nothing high-tech that is sustainable. Passive solar and biofuels are the way forward. In fact, George Brayton invented an engine capable of burning biomass directly (minimal processing) over 150 years ago. Modern gas turbines operate on the same principle.
The folks at Usufruct Commons are nice and definitely seem like they'd be into solarpunk!
