>>[87](/thread/home-servers#87) I established a home server when I ran out of free storage on Dropbox. Having a dedicated place to upload and share files was important for my job, so I needed something. That's why I ended up running Nextcloud on my server. It took days (for me) to set up. I've now been using it happily for about 2 years. Nextcloud's add-ons and integrations make it even more useful to me personally. The "News" add-on serves as my RSS reader, synched to my phone via Readrops. Recently I've also been using Joplin for note-taking, which can sync to Nextcloud. So yeah, pretty much just Nextcloud. I haven't had to install anything else on the server because Nextcloud has me covered.
